Our Mission
The Psyche Counsellor is dedicated to supporting clients in navigating life’s challenges with creativity, compassion, and empowerment. By blending solution-focused, person-centered, and narrative therapies with the unique tools of songwriting and Mindfulness. We help individuals discover their strengths, reauthor their stories, and grow through self-expression.

At the heart of healing lies connection to ourselves, our stories, and the sounds that move us. By integrating counselling and music, we create a pathway for self-discovery and transformation, empowering individuals to heal, grow, and embrace life with renewed meaning. Through story, sound, and guided reflection, lives are not only supported but truly transformed offering hope, resilience, and the freedom to thrive.
My Approach as a Counsellor
I integrate solution-focused, person-centered, and narrative therapies to address the unique needs of each client. In addition, I incorporate songwriting and mindfulness as creative therapeutic tools, enabling clients to engage in self-expression, reauthor their personal narratives, and build on their strengths. This blended approach supports resilience, personal growth, and meaningful change within the therapeutic process.
Person-Centered Therapy
Using person-centered therapy, I create a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients feel deeply heard and valued. Through music production, I invite them to express their authentic emotions and experiences in their own voice and style. I listen attentively and reflect their feelings back, helping them build self-awareness and self-acceptance while using their creative expression as a mirror for self-exploration and affirmation.
Creating a safe, accepting environment is central to my work. I aim to demonstrate empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness so my clients feel truly heard and valued. Instead of directing our sessions, I practice reflective listening sharing back what I’m hearing to help my clients clarify their thoughts and feelings. I respect my clients’ autonomy, letting them set the pace and direction of our conversations. Being authentic and present allows me to model the same for them, which often encourages real, meaningful connections and self-exploration.
Solution-Focused Therapy
I focus on helping my clients find and build solutions rather than spending too much time dwelling on problems. I ask future-oriented questions like, “What would life look like if this problem were solved?” or “What’s already working that we can build on?” Together, we set clear, achievable goals, and I highlight their strengths by exploring times when the problem was less severe or better managed. I often use scaling questions, such as, “On a scale of 1 to 10, how close do you feel to your goal?” to track progress and clarify their sense of movement. With solution-focused therapy, I focus on my client's strengths and resources. I encourage them to explore what they want their life or situation to look like through songwriting and music. We co-create songs that highlight their goals and small steps they've already taken. The music becomes a motivational tool that reminds them of their capabilities and progress, reinforcing empowerment and hope.
Narrative Therapy
I view my clients’ problems as separate from who they are, and I help them externalize those issues (“You’re not the problem; the problem is the problem”). I encourage clients to identify and develop new, preferred narratives by recalling times they resisted or overcame those problems. I explore with them how broader family, cultural, or societal narratives may have shaped their current story. Sometimes I use written letters or “therapeutic documents” to reinforce positive changes and growth.
In narrative therapy, I guide my clients to re-author their stories by externalizing problems through lyrics and expressive themes. We use songwriting to identify dominant narratives, challenge negative beliefs, and create alternative stories that emphasize resilience and preferred identities. The act of songwriting becomes a symbolic reclaiming of their narrative, helping them gain greater agency and meaning in their lives.
Integrating the Modalities
In practice, I often blend these approaches. I might start with person-centered methods to build trust and rapport, then introduce solution-focused techniques when it’s time to set goals. Narrative strategies help my clients reframe their stories and reinforce their strengths. I always aim to remain flexible and adapt my approach depending on what resonates most with each client. Combining these approaches with songwriting and mindfulness allows me to engage clients creatively and holistically. The integration of mindful awareness with creative expression helps clients explore, understand, and transform their experiences, fostering healing and personal growth in a calm, grounded, and expressive way.
